Hello, I am following this guide Enable full text search using TREX (Embedded Search - Enterprise Search) - CRM - SCN Wiki to install the Embedded search for our CRM system. And this guide pointed me to follow note 1249465 - TREX 7.1: Installing TREX for Embedded Searchto install TREX 7.1
As i go along, i realized that following this note with script install is not installing a regular version of TREX. I believe the regular version needs to be installed by Sapinst
So my question is if i first installed the regular version of TREX and create the RFC connections and follow the rest of the steps of the notes 1249465 to do the configuration from TREXAdmin tool, will this still work.
Or i still need to use the script with this command to update the trex. By the way, we are using windows 2008
install --action=install --sid=< SAPSID> --password=<password for adm/service user> --type=ESH
Or it will not work at all. Since the note also mentioned this:
Note: An already existing regular TREX 7. 1 installation can not
be updated by executing the installation script with the parameter
'--type=EnterpriseSearch'. Configuration changes done in that way will not have
any effect.
I am really confused. Because we have an existing TREX 6.1 server already. In the future, we might need to consolidate these two systems to be one system for our QA systems. So i want to make sure if i install the regular TREX first and follow this note still work.
Or follow this note to install specifically for Embedded search first, and then use that install command with --type=default in the future, it will then active the regular version of TREX as well.
Thanks,
Kev
