SAP NetWeaver integrates a variety of tools specifically designed for reliable data backup, archive, and database administration. BC-BRI enables software vendors to develop systems that back up Oracle databases by issuing calls to SAP's backup programs. Certification for BC-BRI interface requires testing the backup, restoring, and inquiring functions.

Test System Recommendation from ICC
The certification-test will be performed on a standard Oracle database that is installed like a normal SAP NetWeaver basis system. That means that file names and raw device specifications follow the SAP convention. In order to keep the size of the database small, the database itself is almost empty. As only the communication between SAP tools and the external product is certified, we do not need a complete SAP NetWeaver Application Server installation. If the external program supports both UNIX or Linux and Windows the actual certification is performed on each single UNIX and/or Linux platform and/or Windows. Therefore a Test Database installation needs to be maintained by the Vendor for the appropriate Hardware/Software and Oracle DB Release combination. To setup a SAP like Table-space environment within the DB an install-tool for Unix/Linux and/or Windows can be obtained from SAP ICC Walldorf at request, please send your inquiry to icc@sap.com
Please get the current Oracle Database installation package for the selected operating system on your own premise prior to start developing and testing.
