I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue. We've setup Crystal on an RDS server (Windows Server 2008 R2) for a single user to access remotely. There is an existing RDS server, but we first built out a new server and installed Crystal Reports on there to confirm it works before setting it up on our production server. The test server run Crystal Reports without any issue, but the production server cannot open any reports.
Firstly, the "Open" button doesn't work--as in you click it and nothing happens. When you click any of the "Reports Wizards", or when you click to create a new report you get the error "failed to create the Crystal Database Connector". When you try to open existing reports by browsing to the folder from Windows Explorer and double clicking the report it simply says "*filename* This document could not be opened".
Additionally, the Xtreme Sample Database 11.5 is missing from the ODBC connections list, and Crystal Reports is NOT listed under Programs and Features, so I cannot uninstall it. I dug through all the files and could not locate an a file that might server as the uninstaller.
This is very strange behavior and I don't know what to make of it. Previous network admins MAY have installed and uninstalled this version of CR onto this server, but I have no actual documentation of that... but then again there's little documentation from them in the first place, so who knows what actually happened. Other than that there is no fundamental difference in what exists on this production server versus the test server.
Anyone have any ideas on how we may move forward?
